Random neuron firings and other lies I tell myself

I had a list of notes of things that I thought were important for me to talk about on this blog on Saturday morning.  So -  today they all seem a little bit ....meh....  BUT I have had a request for more blog posts, so away we go!

I had a really nice time with Adam on our trip to Hayward, got some goodies, planned to make a little dessert thing- a vegan peanut butter cup dessert- but I just ran out of ambition and frankly did not have the stupid graham crackers for the crust part.  WHY do I clean out my cupboards and then am surprised when i don't have the 2 year old crackers that had been sitting there for .... well, two years.  I say that every so often- WHY did I clean out my....... insert one or all- closet, shelf, drawer, car....  well, because I couldn't stand it one minute longer, but then I have this sort of thing happen.  I think we all need an extra house to put the stuff in we don't have room for in ours any more, but we think we MIGHT need it someday, but we are not sure.  I am positive the children will LOVE cleaning THAT out some day.  So, fine, the extra house will not happen... but you know what I mean.  And food can't be a part of that house, because that won't be a good idea.  And what if that house is better than the one you live in?  You know, better stuff??  HAHAHA I think I should be going to sleep, I am apparently delirious.

SO- Valentines Day, which is usually a bitter disappointment, was a big surprise!  Who KNEW!!!  I wonder if I really deserved all this floral attention, but deserve or not, I LOVE IT!!  Seriously, don't give me the whole "flowers don't last" baloney, they rock my world.  If you want to be a Darla downer ( I never use the saying "debbie downer", because that is just sick and wrong), that is your issue, just don't spew those lies to ME!  We all know that flowers are fabulous, whether cut and in a vase or gleefully blooming outside in my gardens. And in case you didn't notice- it was freaking -18 the last 2 days and we know that nothing will be blooming for a while!  Much "floratude" (gratitude for the flora) is in the air.  And I am working hard to make everything last as long as possible, because that is my gig!

Along the lines of plants, I am really excited at the prospect of ordering seeds soon. Though I am not going to try to start a lot of seeds indoors, I am going to start a few heirloom tomato varieties because they are better than the standard ones around here.  But I want to raise and freeze a bunch of things such as kale, beet greens, chard, etc.  Going to stuff as much into that  garden as possible!  We just don't have access to great greens in the winter up here, the grocery store doesn't have a lot in that regard.  The solution is to raise my own!

Next weekend is going to be a fun one, if the weather holds.  Going to go to Janesville for the baby shower!  I have the gift here and ready to go....  so I plan to go unless all hell breaks loose.  AND it sounds like my Mad-seester is going to be there too!  YAY!!!!!!   Jeez I love that girl. I am slightly sad to know that I do not have the comfort of knowing that I could go and look at my old home if I wanted to, it is still freaking me out to know that it is gone.  I will adjust but it will take a while.  I have found that I am worried about my own house here burning down now- I am so irrational sometimes, but I can't help it.

In other news, I am thinking I want to finish this up so I can play word with friends and then get ready for school tomorrow.

And RANDOM THING- I have the song about a guy thrift shopping in my brain- part of my dancey dance play list from my awesome Samarathon!  I'm gunna pop some tags....  Lol.  I have interesting brain music, let me tell you.  This is the clean version of that song.... ;)

I had written some notes to myself for this post- which was going to be like 2 or 3 posts, but you know that whole ..... meh..... thing-  HOWEVER, I must have been thinking deeply Saturday morning because this was among my little messages to myself:

life - potential
actual
past

Now, isn't that an interesting little message to ones' self??  I will have to ponder that cryptic little note that could almost be a haiku, but there isn't enough syllables.  I can't even consider the possibilities right now.
Time for sleep, kids, the Mad-Art teacher needs to be on her A game tomorrow, long day ahead- kids, classes, pottery, stage crew and scenery painting (I should have ordered paint- rats!), quick back weight lifting and dance class.  whew! THAT is a 7 am - 7:45 pm sort of a day.  Is it Friday yet??

Until next time- be a joy giver.  And find a little bit of sunshine in your day.  muah!

Soe tore and other oddities: a return to running

Mad conversation with self this morning:

Oh man am I tired.  Why the heck was I going to run again??  I am sure I should wait until tomorrow, I walked 7 miles yesterday, for crying out loud.

Oh for heavens sakes, quit whining.  You have that 5K run next weekend and you need to get a little running in so Sarah Jane doesn't have to carry you across the finish line.

Fine.
I suppose the horse needs to be fed first- alright, let's do that - then head out.

OW!  Hey my soe is tore.

WHAT did you just say???  Really?  Your soe is TORE???? THAT is something you say out loud wrong, you don't THINK that in your brain before it comes out of your mouth!!!!  Good lord, if you hadn't been just whining like a baby, you'd be going back to bed.

Oh shut up and let's get this over with.  I can't help it my soe, er, uh, my toe is sore.

Now you know!  Lol.  Seriously, who makes that sort of mixup in their brain before even saying it out loud.

This morning I had to get a run in- in anticipation of the 5K and obstacle course thing I am doing next Saturday.  As some of you know and some may or may not know, I had a little knee issue recently.  MUCH to my dismay.  So I eased way off of everything involving knees in anticipation of the canoe trip and of course the resulting loss of fitness for running was highly discouraging.  I ran part of the Evergreen Road Run last weekend, then did one more run this past week.  a SLLLLOOOOOWWWW one, but still.  And so I wanted to get an interval session in today and then I will do one more interval session before Wednesday so I can rest the knee before the race on Saturday.

MY BRAIN is ready to regroup and return to running.  My cardio fitness is getting there, thanks to a lot of walking this week.  My legs are not quite as confident as my brain wants them to be.
On the road with Debi

What I found disturbing was how quickly I lost my cardio fitness!!  My heartbeat was way faster this past week when I was running than just a month ago when I had to lay off for a while.  UGH.  That is rotten!  All the work I did to get to that point.  But I am finding it is coming back pretty quickly, so that is good.

I was also distressed with how quickly my quad muscles lost strength!  I avoided most quad work whilst babying my knee, and I can feel it.  At least I am starting to regain some of the mass now.  A little of the definition is beginning to show again.

Yikes!

Of course I felt pretty wiped after the whole thing, but it was a good feeling.  No soreness in my knee.  I iced it for good measure, so it will not decide to act up on me.  I can feel my edge returning, and I am going to attempt to go slow when adding mileage.  No more adding over a mile onto my runs once a week!  I do not want to go through that again.  Game face is on people!!!

Idk if you can see it, or if you want to, but there is a big ole blister on my middle (s)toe.  And that sucker hurts!  At least my pedi still looks good!
MAD-MARATHONER FRIEND!!!

On a more positive note, and just a bit on the random side, but why should this be different than any other day, I have a new playlist to run with!  THANK you to my good friend Samara, the mad-marathon buddy!!! She is my hero and role model!!

Seems like nap is a good idea, now, don't you think??

Until next time, be a joy giver and find some inner peace!  No arguing meow! ;)

Final Preparation and see ya!

I think I am ready.  I need to print directions to the middle of no where, but then I am ready.   Or as ready as I ever will be.  As my dear friend, the Mad-Marathoner said, you could work on getting ready for a long long time..... well that is paraphrasing a conversation that we had! Anyway, the point is, the house is as straightened as it's going to get.  I think I have all my REALLY important things together- clothes, cameras, pillow. What more do you need?

WELL, finding a gorgeous sunrise is a good perk!  I fancied it up with my new latest passion, that is using Instagram and Pixlr-o-matic.  Fun iPhone apps that make my life even more joyful!

I have 2 cameras with me, 4 memory cards that I will swap out every day or so, incase something untoward happens, all the pix won't be gone, and 2 batteries for each camera!  I think I am ready for camera emergencies!  AND I  have my awesome waterproof  camera bag to hang around my neck and keep it safe.

This is an incredible way to be spending a whole week of birthday month!

So, until next time, have a wonderful week and find your joy!!!

Run, run.... then relax- the birth of the "mad-runner"

WELL!  I had a great run today- actually I lie.  It was hard, it was painful, it was not easy.

However, it was good.  I did it, I only walked 2 times when I was putting down and picking up my water-bottle.  I went ALMOST 4 miles, which irritates me, because I was trying to get in 4 miles. I would have too, if I wouldn't have stopped to pick up the mail!  For heavens sakes.

I get a little bit fixated on the numbers I get in my mind, I had it on 4 miles, and I overestimated. Oh well.  Like my friend Samara says, it doesn't matter. It's your run. She's so wise.

This is my prerun game face- I can't show you what my postrun exhausted face is, as it is just not fit for public consumption!

I also spent an hour and a half lifting weights after school.  It is the best thing ever to do to relieve the stresses of the day, clear your mind, attempt to make sense of life.... you know, simple things like that.

So I spent the night relaxing!  I should have been doing some gardening, I could have been oh, I don't know, cleaning something and I SHOULD HAVE DONE SOME LAUNDRY!!!  Dang!  I hope I have a clean outfit for dance class tomorrow. Meanwhile, I hear clinking- the Mad-Accountant is somewhere nearby looking through his coinage- idk, why.  Seeking an old penny?  Something about nickel(s).  I try not to know these things. The kids will know, I'm sure.

I have some really cool running songs that I have gotten from my runner friend- Samara- Maybe I should start calling her the mad-runner, no, wait, that has to be me.  The Mad-marathoner friend!!!  YES.  Anyway, the Mad-marathoner friend sent me a bunch of tunes for running and each time I go, one pulls me through to the end.  This time it was "Don't Stop Moving' by Livin'Joy.  It was perfect!  And did you notice the name of the artist??  Gotta love a little livin' joy!
