Student Art work courtesy of the Mad Art Teacher- November 2013

I had mentioned in a previous post that I would put up some really nice student art work and so here it is!  There is a variety of classes represented and a variety of assignments.  From realism to abstract  to design, there is a lot to see here.

This is my HS student's art work, I put some of my Elementary kid's work on the other blog I have.  The other blog is merely a way for me to keep track of the very irregular schedule the elementary ends up having.  Wow, I think I have seen my Thursday kids, in particular the 5th grade once or twice in the past 5 weeks.  

Anywho, there are some single shots of work and some window pictures.  I did no editing, so if some of the pix are dark or unclear, that accounts for it.  :)

I am very proud of the progress made during this first quarter.  Even though the advanced art kids are asking for the freedom to do their own projects, they are doing super well with a bit of structure.  AND none of them would have attempted any sort of abstract work.  We are not familiar with abstract up north here, so a little exploration was well worth the discomfort they felt exploring absolutely unfamiliar territory.
Don't worry their chance is coming!  But they will have to prove that they have some deep plans for their projects.

Anyway, I hope you enjoy the art work!  I am really looking forward to the 2nd quarter- they are proving to be an outstanding group of artists.  And this is giving me so much joy.

Longing for boredom....

I have to make this another quickish post, as I will not be bored for a while!!  Oy.

FIRST of all I will do the best recap of the livingroom and hopefully the Wizard of Oz in the next day or so.  The play went really well, and I loved the way the scenery looked. The living room also looks FABULOUS, and after one misstep, the paint color is just wonderful and I adore it.

SO, the electrician actually does come today, and will put my electric things back in order, including LIGHT- which is so awesome, I can't even tell you.  And I have an appt. which involves reclining for an hour (dentist) which suits me fine, because me in a reclining position for an hour somehow seems desirable, even if someone is keeping me from talking for so long.  THEN, I have to go finish elementary school children grades and after lunch- HIT THE GYM BABY!!!  FINALLY!!!!!!  I may weep.  I will become loud and obnoxious.  It will be expected.

But before that all comes, I have to stain the wood trim that is laying all bare on the floor in the livingroom right now- because I do not get to have any time to sit around and think and clean things up or make food of any sort (not that I can hardly tolerate too much food yet- ugh). I am very grateful that I do not have to climb up on my step stool for this task, as I have some very sore calves and ankles of all things.  Very strange- probably from balancing on a step whilst taping and painting and such.

May I also say that FROG TAPE is the best thing EVER!!!!  Go with the green painters tape people, it ROCKS!!!

Ok, I have to be done here, I have to get myself staining in the next 15 minutes to sort of stay on schedule.  AND I am not sure what time the Builder and Electrician come, so I want to stay ahead of the game and not still be in my robe at that time.  And yes, I do realize they won't be here at 6:30.....  shhhhh.  I have to keep myself from becoming a goof off-

And we have walls!!!

This was a LOVELY sight to come home to!!!  LOVELY!

First of all, I came home in the LIGHT!!!  It was before 6 pm- which was AWESOME!  I haven't seen my house in the light hardly at all!  Second, I had been to the gym to do cardio, so I was feeling wonderful!  People just don't understand how much I have to go there and let the cares of the day go....

Anyway, FIRST of all, I am totally impressed with how well this has been cleaned up for the weekend- new plastic on the floor and everything.  I have to find myself a card table so I can have a spot to have lunch and dinner.....

There is just one spot on the walls with out rock on it, except for the little bits at the top, because of COURSE the walls are a tad taller than the drywall. We KNEW that was going to happen.  So, next Monday, I am guessing the rock will  be finished and then there will be some taping and mudding, and I imagine then is the priming, which means I have to figure out a color pronto!!   AGH.  One would think that I would go forward into that with confidence, but one would be wrong.  The front room that was redone about 15 or more years ago is still off-white and it took me a while and a few paint stores to find the right warm grey for the bathroom.  Theoretically, I do not want beige, but I do not want to shut off any possibilities.  I am actually considering a greyish gold color- nice and warm, but not just off-white, a little deeper than that.....  and now I am thinking about a color for my front room, too, since that hasn't been painted for a long long time.  The thing is (no laughing now), I HATE to paint walls.  I might have discussed this with you before, like at Christmas when I finally painted the old wall around the couch- you know the one that is no longer there???  Oh the irony of that!  Not that I am afraid of color, it is just that if I don't like it I will have to paint it again.......  and that would be unfortunate!

Here's the story..... of a sunny lady

With one thing on her mind, a canoe trip,
that's even farther north!


So in order to avoid much pain and muscle peril
(I know there are some sketchy parts to this song- sue me)
She lifted weights and ran her knee to death.
But still she portaged everything  she needed
And kept up with all the rest!

So in the spirit of the Brady Bunch, I will introduce you to the cast of characters which are sort of loosely divided into a couple families.

First there is our fearless leader- Pat!

Pat is claimed by all of the represented families.  He found lots of similarities and many ways to connect with us.  He is a vegetarian (yay us!!!), he comes from a family of 5 children- as in that is how many children Penny has, he is from the twin cities area, like Rose and Penny.  He loves artsy people!!!  Yay me and Penny and Rose and Emily and Nathan!  And Pat.  He is patient beyond belief and has discovered how nice it is to have 3 moms on a canoe trip, 2 of whom will move mountains and firewood to make themselves some nice coffee in the morning, no matter how much it has rained the night before!

Yay for coffee in the morning!!

Pat and I began together, couldn't stay together!  I was needed elsewhere!

Rose and Penny began together, but I ended up switching canoes with Rose

Emily and Nathan mostly canoed together!  

Canoed together later in the week!  We rocked it OUT!

Awesome partners. Emily canoed like a pro by the end of the trip.  she did GREAT!  And so did Nate!

Rose and Pat were good partners!

We got a lot of chatting in!  :)

There was another family who was supposed to go on the trip with us, but they unfortunately were unable to come.  That did give us a little extra room for an ART PACK!!  Yessiree, folks, we had a half a pack of art supplies..... go figure!  :)  And so the trip was named "Watercolor Mosaic" and also "Pat's Art Camp".
